Experience

Clinical Psychology

I graduated from Duke University with my BA in Psychology in 1995. I completed my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 2001.

I have 25 years of experience practicing clinical psychology, counseling,  and psychotherapy. My clinical training and 25 years of clinical experience with diverse populations and settings has provided me with a strong foundation to find the best fit therapeutic approaches for each client.

Other Professional

From 2011-2021, I was an Adjunct Faculty Member/Executive Coach at the Center for Creative Leadership, Greensboro, NC,  to coaching executives worldwide to become more self-aware and effective in the workplace.

In 2014, I founded Next Step College Admissions and Career Consulting, motivated by my passion for helping high school students, college students, and adults find their "best fit" college, university, or career path.

I pursued more knowledge and graduated from the University of California, Irvine, with a degree in Independent Educational Consulting in 2015.

Inspired by my work as an Executive Coach at the Center for Creative Leadership, I pursued another Graduate Degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. I completed my Graduate Degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology in 2018.

In 2020, my passion for legal advocacy for children and individuals on the Autism Spectrum led me Loyola University of Chicago School of Law, graduating with a Master of Jurisprudence in December 2022.

My 25 years of diverse cultural experiences, academically, professionally, and personally, have led me to view human behavior through various lenses. Combining biological, psychological, sociological, and cultural lenses, I strive to help people communicate effectively and resolve conflict. I enjoy helping clients understand and learn about the driving forces behind conflict disputes in their personal and workplace lives. I strive to teach clients to learn more effective strategies to communicate and resolve conflict by first understanding themselves.

My Approach

Every client I meet deserves to be met treated with respect, compassion, dignity, and curiosity. Every individual has a unique story and deserves to be heard. I strive to create a safe, comfortable, confidential setting.

I focus on building rapport, connection, and a trusting relationship with my clients. A strong foundation of trust is one of the most critical components of building a positive client-therapist relationship.  I strive to provide unconditional positive regard and a judgement-free, safe space for my clients. While maintaining an empathetic, non judgemental approach, I challenge clients to adjust their paradigms, thinking patterns, perspectives, and behavioral patterns to improve their lives. I am an active participant in the therapeutic process.

I use a biological, psychological, and sociological approach with each client I work with, creating a customized treatment plan for each individual to cope with, manage, and overcome their challenges and achieve personal growth. Cultural competency is also important to my client and patient approach.

I strive to provide my clients with empirically validated, evidence-based therapies and I am committed to furthering my knowledge by reading new research studies and attending seminars and workshops to learn new information to help my clients. Clients report that I am genuinely attuned to their needs.

I do not believe in a "one size fits all" model for my client and patient care.
